Sisters

Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy;
the four of us.
We were never each one of them,
but we were each all of them -
all shining grace
beside luminous passion,
holding hands with glowing gentleness
and twinkling pride.
Brightest sisters,
a constellation of our own,
yet always changing;
we make more shapes with four
than any piece of stagnant sky
can boast.

  1. I read *Little Women* out loud to my younger sister, and one of my older sisters gifted me her copy for my graduation. Collectively, we love the book and its depiction of how sisters can love, fight, stand up for one another, and teach each other lessons. We can find ourselves in each of the four sister characters. Some of my fondest memories with my sisters are of reading.

  2. The picture for this poem was created by me, using a photo of a painting called "The Fairytale" by Walther Firle and editing it on www.picsart.com .
